ESS & Colorado Homes on CBS News 4 — Supporting TSA Workers & Honoring Sgt. Pennington

Earth Saving Solutions, Top Edge, and Colorado Homes & Design were featured on CBS News 4 in this live broadcast segment highlighting the Denver-area businesses’ commitment to community service on two fronts.

The segment opens with coverage of a prayer breakfast organized by ESS founder Chris Hock honoring Sergeant Benjamin Pennington, a Fort Carson soldier originally from Kentucky who was killed following an airstrike on a U.S. base in Saudi Arabia. The breakfast included a powerful 26-second moment of silence — one second for every year of the sergeant’s life.

The broadcast then turns to reporter Ashley Portillo, live in Adams County, covering a community support effort for TSA workers going without pay during a government shutdown ahead of busy spring break travel. TSA employees like nine-year veteran Kelly Crawford and 23-year veteran Allison Hill shared emotional testimony about the toll of repeated shutdowns on workers and their families.

In response, ESS, Top Edge, and Colorado Homes & Design organized an ongoing relief effort providing TSA workers with meals, take-home food, gas cards, and even car repairs. The businesses pledged to continue the support daily until workers receive their paychecks. Donation drop boxes were also set up at the DIA cell phone lot and inside the terminal.
